in that antiseptic room
your tiny chest opened
once considered a miracle
in my wallet
For enough life
whatever we get
should be enough
Is that possible?
all we get is
a few precious minutes
here and there
make minutes matter
beautiful beating heart
I keep watching
keep watching you
and your heart…
So, in April I tend to go to the hard moments that came from the April’s before, including handing my sweet baby over to heart surgery all those years ago. We had a long reprieve from even appointments, but now they are back into the mix and then I obsess…maybe even without cause.
As I have said before, I am not a poet. But I do like to write poetry on occasion. Did you know April is National Poetry Month? True. Thanks, FTSF Friends, here and here, let’s talk April, shall we?
A friend sent me this post, I take it as a compliment, it is good advice:

Beautiful poem. I know that had to be a tough time and waiting moment. You can feel that in “you make minutes matter” and it so appropriately compliments Snoopy’s response.
The Snoopy cartoon made me cry a little bit. I know. *sniff sniff*
I think you are a poet. For real. To be able to even remotely express the joy of being a part of somebody’s life who shows us life, purpose, goodness. That’s what writing – any type should do, and you did. xo
Thanks Dear <3
This is so beautiful and beautifully simple, but not. Life is simple, but at the same time complicated. Hugs.
Thank you and yes. Yes to that.
It’s the perfect Snoopy cartoon, if I ever did see one.
Gorgeous and description. April and memories and LOVE and life.
