Yesterday I learned about a concept I knew, but didn’t know the name of: The Feedback Loop. Those in the meeting with me seemed to be familiar with this, but it’s new to me so incase it is new to you, I’ll explain:
The Feedback Loop is simply when a small something moves forward cyclicly to a larger something then again a larger something feeding upon itself over and over. The examples given were a stampede of animals or a forest fire. A spark leads to a another to the heat to the dry to the spark to the heat to the dry until it’s a Giant Blaze!
When this concept it not a forest fire, I love it! Wow. It’s like a ripple effect but on steroids. And unlike the ripple effect, it works both ways. There are loop dampeners and amplifiers that broaden or close the circle. So, for example, if you want to live a healthier lifestyle your amplifiers may be to eat more vegetables, to move your body, to drink more water, and as you do these things the circle may broaden to where you crave healthier food and enjoy movement and so on. I’m just speaking in theory here. The dampeners that may close the circle of an unhealthy lifestyle, you may chooses to give up fast-food, give up watching TV while eating, give up pop. As that circle of unhealthy habits closes you may find that the desire for those negatives begin to fall away. Again, from what I’ve heard.
I love examples that show how each tiny decision is it’s own important start to the next and the next. In a feedback loop, your action leads to another action, sometimes by you sometimes by someone else, and on it goes to something bigger and bigger and bigger than you are.
That’s what I’m taking about here – with Change
the Your World Wednesdays! Each Wednesday I ‘m going to share with you a “little” thing, action, or thought that you or I can do as part of this great feedback loop that changes the world, every day! I mean it. In the next few weeks I’m going to share with you tips or suggestions that may help you to find your own stone to throw. Oops, switched metaphors.
Just suggestions, small things to think about that maybe, with one more person on board, will make a difference. With that in mind, maybe I’ll really just be tossing out something to think about. Sometimes merely being consciousness of our actions help to make us better decision makers. I’ll start with a few things I have experience with, as is the custom, but I’m not limited to that. Oh No! Tell me what you see as one small step to changing
the your world. You can comment or reach me on the contact me form. I’m excited to here from you!
