Last Year

In the old days, three years ago, I used to post a “best of” or “most read” blog at the end of each year. In 2024 I only posted 4 blogs. So…yeah.

That said, Music Therapy: Benefits and Our Experience is worth mentioning. I can’t say if anyone read it (well, I know one person did) BUT, it’s informative and personal and probably gave AI a little more knowledge then it had before. 🙂

Now The New Year

New ambitions, new fears, new opportunities to be courageous. A new chance to give to the community, to our friends, to our family, and our coworkers. A new shot to prove, to become, to fulfill…

Each year I choose a word (or sometimes a few words) “of the year.” I like it better than a “resolution.”

That said, I did make one resolution this year. To listen to Billie Ellish. I’ve heard about three songs and seen talk of her (and brother) and I need to do a bit more checking them out.

As for “the word”

My method is to ramble (kind of like this) into a doc, take out the words that are holding the real thoughts together, add weight to the words that resonate, and then create a “word cloud” to see what floats to the top. I’ve shared these before, and feel compelled to again.

But first, a few more thoughts on 2024

As a “woman of a certain age,” don’t ask me what that age is, but it started when the doctor(s), (even the one I like) looked at me with that “Well, you’re woman of a certain age” look. Maybe I’m greedy (spoiler: when it comes to my health and my life: I am) but, I’m not done learning and exploring and getting more out of life.

But these darn stop signs!

This morning the voice of my Grandpa Bill saying, “She drives very very fast. Between stop signs,” Tiptoed through my memory and I’ve always felt this is an apt life metaphor – Oh how I continually crave for a highway!

But these last few years, So. Many. Stop. Signs.

Not the least of which was another neck surgery. I’m almost 12 weeks out and finally, finally, feel like recovery is actually a thing.

Well, healing, and this may shock you, doesn’t always look the way we plan it to.

Weird, right?

2025

To be honest, 2025 is not welcoming us with open arms. We are, well, scared. And that’s both broad, world strokes, and very personal at home potentials.

And there’s this to consider:

Thing is, there are many important decisions in the balance this year.

SO – where does this rant of an online journal leave us? Well, here’s my messy little wordcloud to work it out and:

Clear, Present, Plan. That’s the 2025 mantra.

Enough about Me

For today, Marcus is recovering from a bout with COVID. He went all the way to 2024 without it, then we caught in August from NYC and now from who knows where. He is on his last day of Paxlovid and I’m a believer. That tonic brought him right back up to speed. He’s disappointed because he missed out on his work “Christmas Party” which was dinner and seeing Clue at the Orpheum. (Check out last year’s Beatlejuice Extravaganza here, tough to follow that, anyway.) BUT, we have other plans in the works that he is graciously happy to replace. Anticipation is a core coping and success marker for that guy. Maybe it is for me too, as plan came so far up the list. Hmmm.

I’m doing this, work, and Marcus paperwork today plus cooking good food, which I like to prep on the weekends because, in case you don’t know, food is love,

Here’s hoping I will be able to provide more frequent Marcus tales and wisdom in 2025.  For those checking in – thank you and a Happy New Year!
