The Journey to Success

“Success is a journey, not a destination.”

This was somehow an inspiring sentiment in my teen years. Back then I wore my perseverant nature as a badge of honor and believed  (vehemently) it would be the key to my success. But then…adulthood.

Staying alive, keeping other human(s) alive, and the simple act of breathing took a lot more effort than I expected.

By the  age of, let’s say 43, this quote and “success being a journey” concept pricked at my soul like needles. I didn’t *want* it to be a journey,

Learning to Celebrate Love

Bringing a circle of support around two people is beautiful. My favorite weddings combine celebration, tradition, and personality, with the rituals chosen on purpose, a specific and unique start to their new adventure together.

Last year we went to the wedding of my dear friend, Christine. The small congregation of close friends and family spontaneously sang her down the aisle of the small chapel. The scene was gorgeous on a beautiful island off of Seattle. It propelled me to live like we have 100 Junes.

You never know…

Sitting with another mother at the Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Fashion Show, talking about Marcus’ and my crazy schedule this year. I told her, “I debated whether we should push it and do this. So much else going on. But then I thought, Don’t wait. You never know what the next year will bring, grab it all today while we can.”

“Yes,” she agreed, “Especially with our guys, you never know how long we’ll have.”  

I nodded. It’s true. Who knows?
