Personally…

Picasso paintings are too much, too much for me.

The sharp edges, the abrasive color pallet, the brash tones and raw emotion. It provokes unpleasant, thorny, sensations under my skin; his work aggravates my nerves. It is valid. But not an experience I enjoy.

My Oldest Friend

This is how singer/songwriter Harry Chapin described music, and how I feel about the blank page.

The blank page at once frightens me and also exhilarates every nerve and neuron. I get a rush of euphoria. I feel the weight of dread.

Each blank page provides so much possibility…for relief, for adventure, and for disappointment or failure.

 

The blank page is the ocean.

You can ride upon it, dive in, go under and drown in it. You can swim for days, get lost, find an island, and be eaten alive.

Kind of all over the board, again.  On my write-about-to-do list: Alzheimer’s Disease and research, Marcus is honored by the Rise Awards, so many friends doing super cool stuff, self-advocates being publicly (and wrongly) “put in their place,” IQ cans and cant’s, how is cant’s supposed to be spelled, when cans outweigh everything and when they don’t, Marcus’ most recent school event, his upcoming modelling debut at the Global Fashion show.  Also on my mind is the Ethan Saylor Film Festival, the Human Trisome Project, and, if you can believe it, time-management.  Consequently, I’ve been
