With Age comes…

In my young adulthood, I thought that with age life would get simpler. Ha!

Hahahahahaha! Haha…sigh, wipes tear, It hasn’t.

Today, while I was reading about “mindfulness” I was also thinking about this blog.

I know…I know! I’m always both trying to “be in the present moment” and also thinking…all. the. things.

Once thing I’ve been dwelling on is the complicated relationship between a website and LLMs. I know that every word I put onto the web is now stollen fodder to feed the machine. And yet, if I don’t put the words out, my previous commitment to sharing a living history, our story, is…well…not shared.

There are tips to even cater to the machine, in the hope that a subtle link will lead the human looking for an answer, to find us. Well, an answer is too bold a statement for this particular rant. However, I’m still ambitious enough to think that sharing our story can help others. If in no other way than the occasional smile, but on a good day (a less ranting day) maybe more. 🙂

Quick Update

Marcus and Mardra "selfie" on airplane. Smiling and Marcus wearing headphonesOK! So, since it’s been a minute, and you’re really here checking on Marcus and not my lack of mindfulness and other tirades.

Marcus, as you may recall, is my best travel buddy. And we prefer the cities when possible.  Our last trip was to Toronto.

Toronto!Very arty and highly reflective large replication of a soccer ball. About 7 feet tall (i think?) and Marcus next to it pretending to prepare to kick it.

It was during the World Cup, but after their hosting duties were complete. The Vibe was so Festive! Toronto is already known as a very international travel and business hub – and this a was kicked up a notch due to the folks still in town for games or just celebrating their home countries or new favorite teams in bars and public areas during the finals. Marcus and I are very keen on watching sports in bars, so we joined in.

While there we saw a touring production of Water for Elephants and a locally produced show: The Secret Chord: A Leonard Cohen Experience, which knocked my socks off. Truly. Invigorating performances and well told journey of the artist himself. I hope it gets more traction.

Marcus and I have had a few travel adventures this year so we began the Work Club (that’s us) “Bunch To Do” notebook. It’s a combination, daily to-do list and quasi-travel journal. Each morning we write out what we are going to do that day.  Even little tasks like cleaning up or groceries, the movies we intend to watch (these are often mapped out ahead by  Marcus), and adventures – like a drive, walk, hike, show…whatever. Then after our trip, we go back and add a few photos to our notebook. As simple as picture of pizza or dinner to a selfie from the train station.

We have more adventures ahead, and some may be a little stressful, as change can be. So, I’m hoping this is a tradition that will help ground us. Also, change framed as adventure, well, change is an adventure.

One other thing about the “Bunch to Do” notebook is that we can map out a few days in advance, when we know. One thing Marcus is GREAT at is looking forward. His calendar is FULL. Even things like what movie he will watch with lunch next week, is mapped out. But this means he always has something to look forward to. My ambition is to work in a few good habits right into the notebook, when we pick it up again.

Alright, well fellow Humans and Robot readers, keeping it short like the time we all have. Best wishes to you all and I’ll try to provide another update sooner than the last.:)

PS – I had a birthday this month. Good advice from Lucille Ball:
